Get Rescued.....in Gulfport
Success Stories

Rescues aren't only offered an opportunity to raise the funds needed for the continuing success of their rescue - they are able to showcase many of the dogs available for adoption.
Attendees may see that special pet that will one day bring happiness to their home.

These are just a few dogs that found their way out of rescue
 and into wonderful Forever Homes.

Miss Daisy , touched the heart of Mary O'Malley, Her friends at Poodle and Pooch Rescued helped these two find love, and of course Lois Lane is in the family photo too !!Mary, a master groomer and owner of Reef Dog Gifts & Grooming, is a longtime supporter of rescue and donates much of her time grooming rescued dogs to prepare them for adoption.

Let's all wag our tail for Mary!!

Pee Wee is truly a Success Story of Get Rescued 2008.  He is an elderly boy, his eyes covered with cataracts and at the dusk of his precious life, Pee Wee found his way into rescue.  We don't know why, perhaps no one looked through the exterior of age and saw his loving heart.  The wonderful people from the Dachshund rescue group D.A.R.E. had confidence in him, brought him to Get Rescued 2008 and that is where his new Mom saw him and her heart was filled with love.

Today, Pee Wee is a spokesperson for Get Rescued and can be found daily at Gulfport's Art Village.  Everyone in the city knows him and seeks him out for their daily 'feel good'.  He recently won a huge pet gift basket at the Art Walk's Halloween Party with his centipede costume.

Miss Dixie Kennedy

Get Rescued Mascot Contest 2009

"Honorable Mention"

Rescued from a hoarding/puppy mill situation, this tiny 4lb Apple Head Chihuahua, came into the life of long time rescue volunteer Pam Kennedy from Kickapoo Rescue.  Dixie is approximately 6yo and suffers from a slight neological condition which is the reason that her tongue stays out.  It is believed that she was attacked and injured by a larger dog.  Don't let her very small statue fool you, she has a huge personality and is loved by her Mom and siblings very much.

Occupation:  Raising Money for Get Rescued.....

She attends the Gulfport Art Walks, sitting at the Get Rescued Info Table raising

Money for the rescues.  Better hold onto your pocketbooks when you visit Dixie, she

performs her job very well!

Sam

Get Rescued 2009

Rescue Ambassador

Animal Rescue is as much about people as homeless animals, such as Tim and Judy Delbene of Lake City Florida and Sam.  Sam is a 6yo Dachshund/Poodle mix bundle of personality and love who just happens to be blind and paralyzed.

No one is sure exactly what happened, one day he became paralyzed in his back legs.  His previous owners provided over $5,000 in medical care but perhaps it was just meant to be as the surgeries did not work.  The time came when they just weren't able to care for him, as properly as they had hoped, and Sam came into rescue.  A beautiful couple took Sam in as a foster awaiting that perfect forever family.  His foster Mom confesses that as time went on, she wanted Sam to be forever a member of her family.  His loving spirit greatly outweighs his handicap.  Perhaps being born on Valentine's Day, as Sam was, provided him with a great big heart that captures all that meet him.

We are honored to have Sam represent Get Rescued 2009 as our Rescue Ambassador.  We also honor Tim and Judy!
